Aris Inglessis - In Memoriam
When on Monday 25th of July, a common friend announced that “Aris passed away” the first reaction was that this could not be true … Although attended, the bad news were very difficult to believe them…
Always kind, always active, always humorist, after an unequal war with cancer during the last months, Aris lost the final battle, in the age of only 57 years.
For younger AMMITEC members who haven’t the opportunity to meet him, Aris (born in Samos island as Aristovoulos), was for many years the ICT Manager of Samos Steamship, and one of the very active founding members of AMMITEC and member of the BOD between 2003 and 2006 . During this period, Aris was responsible for the presentation of AMMITEC to shipping and financial specialized press, and also made two very interesting presentations at Digital Ship 2003 and 2004. These presentations were very exciting, enriched with clever designs and photos, and Aris speaking with his characteristic native humor gained all the participants.
Unhappily the last years -due to the serious personal problems- was not often physically present to AMMITEC events, but on his way, he was always near us.
Further to his love to Information Technology, Aris was also a big lover of automobile races and events. He was known (with nickname “Castor”) as a good racing driver of both modern (Honda Civic) and classic cars (Porsche 924). Aris was always a real gentleman, ready to help any other driver having any kind of problem, even if this would be the reason of losing valuable time and places at his final rating!
Greek music, sketches, design, dancing, electronic gadgets and many others were also some of his interests.
We will remember you always Ari …
Note: AMMITEC offered an amount on his memory to FLOGA as minimum respect to his willing to help children with cancer.
