NMIOTC – NATO organized its 3rd Cyber Security Conference under the theme “Cyber Security in the Maritime Domain”. The event took place at NMIOTC’s premises in Marathi ‐ Souda Bay, Chania‐Crete, from 10th to 11th of April 2019, with the aim to deepen the understanding and explore issues related to the current and emerging cyber threats to the maritime environment.
The main scope was to analyze the latest trends in cyber security challenges within the maritime domain and provide initial considerations on how to counter this potentially catastrophic 21st century security challenge.
In particular, the main objectives of the Conference were the following:
AMMITEC had a very strong presence this year, with more than 20 members participating in the conference activities.
The AMMITEC members enjoyed a very warm welcome by the Commandant, Commodore Stelios Kostalas and the NMIOTC staff and had the privilege to attend also the “Icebreaking event” at Chania old Neorio. AMMITEC invited NMIOTIC to attend the 5th ShipIT Conference in September.
Obviously the conference attendance was followed by group dinners at nice restaurants, with the traditional Cretan food and raki and the warm Cretan hospitality!
